General
The PLSA is a helpful contact when you are having any issues to do with the Masters or PhD programs, and we welcome any ideas or suggestions you have about improving your study experience. When you have an idea or issue, you can let us know in a number of ways:
- you can email us on law-plsa@unimelb.edu.au, or you can contact any member directly via email
- you can come and see us in our office on Level 6 anytime Monday to Friday, 2:30pm - 4pm
- a survey is available below, or in hardcopy from outside our office on Level 6. These surveys are able to be completed anonymously, however, we do encourage students to provide contact details so we are able to follow up any issues or ideas directly.
Depending on the idea or issue, we are able to offer these options:
- we can direct students to university support services with regard to financial, housing, health and counselling services
- we sit on faculty committees, and are able to raise issues/ideas on behalf of students. The committees we sit on and the representatives who attend are:
- Faculty Meeting: Catherine and Bec
- Research Committee: Virginie and Bec
- Masters Committee: Catherine and Marium
- Equal Opportunity Committee: Meg and Marium
- Library Committee: Catherine and Marium
- Budget Committee: George

We also highly recommend recommend that you join Melbourne University's Student Union (if you're not already a member, it'll only cost you $49 for semester 2). Amongst other things they offer a FREE student advocacy service (for both members and non-members) and a great legal service by appointment (free for members, $50 for non-members) to talk about issues such as employment, fines (especially public transport), intellectual property and family law. The legal service also provides referral where needed.
There are also a load of clubs and societies on offer which are well worth a look.
